STAN SHELLABARGER
Untitled Performance (Dragging 2004), Western Exhibitions, Chicago, IL
Wearing gloves, the fingertips of which had been covered with coarse sand paper, Shellabarger dragged his hands on the walls of Western Exhibitions. The gallery walls were covered with a sandwich of two-inch pink foam installation panels and quarter inch dry wall. Shellabarger's sandpaper-covered hands wore through the drywall into the insulation panel, leaving a jagged white and pink groove.
